<div itemprop="description">Kahoru Matsumiya, (1928 - 2020) of Montreal, Quebec, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2020. Beloved husband of 59 years to Sadako Matsumiya. Survived by his daughter Lynn (Robert) and predeceased by his daughter Lori. He was cherished by his family and a friend to many. <br> <br>He worked as an Electronics Technical Specialist for over 30 years at Canadian Marconi Company, where he was respected for his dedication and knowledge. <br> <br>Kahoru, who liked to be called Karl, led a very active life. He loved playing sports, especially baseball. As a young man, while playing for the Tashme Slocan Baseball League, he was awarded the title “Heavy Hitter” aka the “Home Run King”. Other favourite sports included golf, bowling and snooker, which he played with relish up until his late eighties. <br> <br>He was a creative person who spent countless hours in his workshop tinkering with, and creating unique electrical gadgets. Other pastimes included weekly poker sessions with the “Poker Gang”, listening to Big Band music, dancing the “Jitterbug”, watching Hockey Night in Canada and rooting for the Boston Bruins, playing X Box with his family and keeping up with current trends in information technology. <br> <br>He will be terribly missed by his family. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the West Island Palliative Care Residence for their care and support in his final day. <br> <br>As per his wishes, a private internment service was held.</div>
