HARDING, Leslie
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Robert Harding (Les), on November 14, 2025, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, educator and friend. Les passed of complications following a stroke one month earlier, he was 79.
Son to Margaret (Hinves) and Leslie Sr, Les was born in Montreal and spent his childhood and adolescence divided equally between city life in Montreal/Laval, and rural life in Arundel/Gray Valley.
Les was the oldest of three siblings, sister Gale Weber (Gerry) and brother Walter.
While studying at Sir George Williams University, Les met his wife, Carroll, working a student job at Rolls-Royce Canada. They were married 57 years.
In 1976, Les and Carroll settled in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, where they developed countless memories with family, friends and neighbours. Les was a proud and devoted father to his two sons Christopher (Harline), and Scott (Valérie).
Les dedicated his professional life to the public sector. He retired from a rewarding career with the Sir Wilfred Laurier School Board as a teacher and administrator. He held the position of Principal at Western Laval High School, Chomedey High School, Rosemere High School, and Lake of Two Mountains High School.
Throughout a career spanning nearly 35 years, Les helped strengthen the school community while developing life long friendships with colleagues and staff. Many of whom he passionately shared his leisure pursuits.
Les excitedly entered retirement and soon became “Grand-Pa” to the Harding grandchildren, Cassandra, Katelyn, Naomi, Thomas and Christopher Parent.
Les lived a life juxtaposed between hard physical labour learned from his time spent in the country as a farm hand and an academic life of a student and educator. This confluence developed an individual who would happily grab a shovel and plant a vegetable garden anywhere, even without prior permission, while wearing a freshly pressed suit and dress shoes. Les would transform every school office he occupied to a botanical garden. His green thumb knew no boundaries!
Les enjoyed playing sports, most notably hockey, which brought him joy both on the ice and in the locker room.
Fishing was a passion. Les would speak of his time spent fishing with friends and family with unparalleled enthusiasm.
A celebration of life honouring Leslie Harding will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Leslie’s legacy will live on, with the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
