Our beloved mother, Lillemor Nyberg (nee Bååth) passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16th at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in the presence of her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Åke, and two of her sons after a fierce four yearlong battle with cancer. She was 82 years young. She leaves behind three sons (Jan, Lars and Per), two daughters in law (Allysyn and Lisa), five grandchildren (Sam, Matts, Paisley, Gillian and Andrew) and countless friends who will miss her greatly.

Born in Bollnäs, Sweden she came to her adopted home of Montreal in 1969 following a whirlwind romance. She then developed a love for her second adopted home, Mexico City, during her two stays there in the 1970’s and 1990’s. She cherished the experiences gained through travel and continued throughout her life. She leaves behind many close friends around the world. Her brother Ulf predeceases her.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (Farmor) but also a great friend to many. She devoted herself to fostering lifelong relationships and a variety of charitable projects. Parties and gatherings were a staple. She was the ultimate hostess as she entertained family, friends, and business acquaintances. She was a talented cook, baker, and handcrafter who always found a way to appreciate the moment and make people feel welcome. Her traditions will live on through her family and her infectious laugh will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rideau Funeral Home (4275 Boul. Des Sources, DDO) on Saturday, December 2nd from 10:30 to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
