It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Taggart (Round) on February 3, 2018 at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Norman Taggart. Most cherished mother of Bruce (Liliane De Raemaeker) and Rodney (Laura Fabrizi), Nanny to Natasha and Vanessa.

Born on October 9, 1919, in Montreal, the fourth child to Harold Round, a policeman who worked at the Old Port and Gertrude Fletcher, both from England. Predeceased by her siblings (Harry, Eddy, Mildred, Gilbert, Frank, Raymond, Arthur, Lawrence). She is survived by her sister Bernice Beeston.

Lillian and Norman married on March 6, 1943 during a huge Montreal snowstorm. The couple moved to Sudbury, Ontario as Norman was a private in the Canadian Army. They returned to Montreal in 1950 with their son and two dogs (Terry & Prince). They bought a house on Clark St. in Ahuntsic and had another son. Summers were spent at their cottage in Lake Memphremagog with their boys and dog (Candy). In 1977, Norman retired from CP Rail. They had a wonderful marriage together until he passed away in 1991.

Lillian’s granddaughters were born in 1992 and 1995. She enjoyed spending time with them and watching them grow up. She said it was a nice change from taking care of all her brothers!

Lillian was known for her cooking and baking. Every Sunday night she cooked a roast beef dinner (even at the cottage). She will be remembered for her strawberry shortcake, nanaimo bars, and shortbread. Lillian loved being outside planting flowers and shovelling snow. She said that the fresh air kept her young.

After fracturing her hip in 2007, she agreed to move to an assisted living facility. In 2009, she moved to CHSLD Manoir Pierrefonds. Since 2012, she lived at CHSLD Bayview. Her family would like to thank the staff for their excellent care.

The family will receive condoleances on Sunday, February 11 from 2:30 - 8:30 pm at the Rideau Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montreal SPCA or charity of your choice. Lillian has left this world physically, but will remain in our hearts.
