It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lucien Renard who left us unexpectedly on Thursday June 5, 2025, at the age of 75.
He leaves behind his wife, Bernetta Renard (nee Poirier) and his son Michael Renard.
He was the son of Alphonse Renard and Philippine Van denEynden (both deceased) and brother of Guy Renard (deceased).
He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Joan Gauvin (nee Poirier, deceased), Patricia Paquin (nee Poirier) in Edmonton, Glorida Donaldson (nee Poirier, deceased), brother-in-law Alonzo Poirier (Nicole Thibeault) in Lachine, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends who were all very precious to him.
Lucien was born in Uccle, Belgium and immigrated to Canada with his parents when he was nine years old in 1958 on the M.S. Seven Seas from Bremerhaven (via Zeebrugge and Southampton) to Quebec and Montreal where his family made their home.
Lucien was active and participated in numerous sports growing up, but the one sport he truly loved was hockey playing defense, same as his idol #4 Bobby Orr. Lucien applied and was hired as a technician at Bell Canada in 1974 and took great pride in the work he did over the years and retired after 30 years of service. One other passion that Lucien had was his love for the dogs we had over the years. His first being Bobby, Mimi, Tina, Mickey, Kaylah, Trapper, Cheyenne, Keisha and most recently Kieran who brought him great joy with her husky antics.
Lucien will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Rideau Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucien’s memory can be made to the SPCA.
