It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Lurline Brown (née Wright), who peacefully left us in the early hours of July 4, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a beloved spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, and friend.

Lurline will be dearly missed by her loving children Christopher, Anthony, Andrew, Judith, and Stephanie and their spouses Carol, Teresa, Nicole, Bernard (coparent), and Christoph, her cherished grandchildren Brendan and Avery, Sarah and Emma, Sydney and Gabrielle, Liam, and Helena, her sisters Brenda and Ethna, and a multitude of relatives and friends.

Lurline was predeceased by her husband Peter Brown, in 2006, and by her siblings Euphemia, Sybil, Dorothy, Randall, and Peter.

Born on January 18, 1935, in Dublin, Ireland, Lurline grew up in Fleetwood, England. She met her husband at Birmingham University where she was studying law and he was studying chemical engineering. They lived variously in Pointe-à-Pierre (Trinidad), Harrogate (England), and Arvida (Québec), until settling to raise their family in Sherbrooke, where Lurline worked as a teacher and a translator while finding time to volunteer. Retirement brought them to the Montreal area, where Lurline quickly made friends and continued her community involvement in and around Dorval.

Known for her kindness, fresh cups of tea, and lifelong advocacy for social justice, Lurline touched the lives of all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as a welcoming person who always made friends feel at home, all while maintaining family connections across the miles.

Lurline’s family would like to thank the medical and support staff at the Maison Sault-Saint-Louis palliative care home in LaSalle for their attentive and professional care during her final days. The comforting environment they provided allowed Lurline to choose her time as she died gently and quietly in her sleep.

An intimate group of family and friends will gather at Rideau Funeral Home and Cemetery (4275, boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux) for the interment of ashes in a private ceremony on Friday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m.

As a memorial tribute, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Sault-Saint-Louis would be appreciated.
