It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Magdalena Kacir (nee Krochova).
She was a loving mother and wife and survived by two children and three grandchildren, and her husband of 61 years Milos. Having grown up in Bratislava Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia, she courageously immigrated with her husband and two young children to Canada in 1968 upon the USSR invasion earlier that year, settling in Montreal and later in the West Island suburbs of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Beaconsfield, and finally overlooking the lake in Ile Perrot, where she enjoyed the peaceful view, gardening, and cross-country skiing on the lake.
Her career included pioneer computer programming for Canadair, now part of Bombardier. She developed a passion for tennis that lasted throughout her life and saw her becoming a competitive player and champion in Montreal tennis club leagues. To those close to her she was known as Maggy, Duska (pronounce du-shka), Babi or Mummy, and will be remembered as a caring and joyful person, quick to smile and laugh.
