Margaret O’Rourke passed away peacefully at the age of 92, surrounded by love, in the presence of her three daughters, her sons-in-law, and her cherished grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Michael, her parents, Edmund and Flora, and her siblings Michael, Terry, Joe, Eileen, Patty, Danny, and John. She is survived by her daughters Colleen Miller, Kelley (Gregg) Thomassin, and Patty (Paul). Beloved Nanny to Sean (Ali) and Patrick Miller; Kate (Romain), Jenny-Lee (Yannick), Sara (Graeden), Louise (John), Michael Thomassin, Daniel (Zoe), Caroline, and Emily (Nel). Great-grandnanny to Hugo, Thomas, Zachary, Jakob, Lukas, Ben, Leo and Samuel.

She will be remembered for her radiant smile and joy of life. She loved to sing, refinish furniture, paint folk art, float for hours in the Rivière des Prairies, and toboggan with the grandbabies in winter. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As a real estate agent in the 1970s, she successfully challenged Royal Trust to secure one of the first mortgages for single working mothers.

We like to believe she chose New Year’s Eve as the day to reunite with her husband Michael, her seven siblings, and her parents — fitting for someone who loved life and the joy of celebrations.

She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and joy that will live on through all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

The funeral will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, located at 4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2A6, on January 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Rideau Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the following would be appreciated: The Montreal Irish Monument Project or Alzheimers Research. https://alzheimermontreal.ca/en/donate/ or https://montrealirishmonument.com/donate/

La famille tient à remercier chaleureusement Claudette Brault, et le personnel de la Résidence Vigi de Dollard-des-Ormeaux pour leur dévouement, leurs bons soins et leur grande humanité.
