Marian passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, surrounded by members of her beloved family expressing their love and wishing her peace as she was reunited with her late husband, Percy.

An only child, Marian was born in Montreal to John and Esther Harrison. Her parents cared for many foster children over the years so Marian learned nurturing and care from an early age. She grew up in Cote St. Paul close to her several aunts, uncles and cousins. She met her future husband Percy early on in life as they attended the same church groups and high school.

After high school, trained as a secretary, Marian worked at Sun Life. These skills were put to good use later on, as Marian would often be called upon to act as secretary for the various organizations she or Percy would be involved with.

After her marriage to Percy, family became her focus. Marian’s family all have fond memories of birthday and holiday celebrations, summers at MacKay Centre Camp, with drive-in movies and picnics. Life with Percy was never dull as they both enjoyed cooking and entertaining and did both very often! They were active members at Church and Marian never tired of her activities there.

When Percy became ill, Marian focused her attention on him and together they stayed strong. Marian moved her aging parents into her home and also care for them for several years.

As the family expanded and moved further away, Marian became an experienced traveler. When each grandchild was born she was there, and as they moved around so did she, visiting in Toronto, Newfoundland, Calgary, Port Dover, Amaranth, Ottawa, Gatineau and Morrisburg. She was included in many trips with her sons, travelling south of the border and west of Calgary.

When Marian was 80 she left her house of 50 years and moved to a retirement residence where she seemed to get even more involved. She had daily exercise classes, was on the bowling team, and did various volunteer activities within the community. This was on top of all the outside activities she was already involved with.

The past couple of years were a little more challenging for Marian, having to deal with a couple of falls, her advancing dementia and also Covid restrictions. However, this did not hold her back from her daily walks, her knitting, her passion for family or her incredible wit.

Marian will forever be remembered for the affection she showered on her family, always hosting gatherings, and giving her time and love.

A long-standing member of Lakeside Heights Baptist Church, Marian was devoted to her church family and the fellowship she enjoyed in her volunteer activities.

Marian will be lovingly remembered by her children: Tim (Linda), Sharon ( Robert), Richard (Barbara), Penny (Andrew). She remains always in the hearts of her grandchildren: Allison, Kevin, Rob, Shawna, Kristen, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, and Matthew, and her nine great grandchildren.

Condolences will be received at Rideau Funeral home, on Friday, December 3 from 7pm to 9pm and on December 4 at Lakeside Heights Baptist Church from 10am to 11 am. The Mass will take place on December 4 at Lakeside Heights Baptist Church at 11am.

Friends and family who are not able to attend may join the family virtually, via our Livestream of the event, using the following link: https://fweb.tv/66000

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
