Marina Ethel Gannon (nee Cooper), of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully on May 18th, 2026, at the age of 91.
Marina was born on November 12, 1934, in Montreal, Quebec. Marina married and raised her children in the Montreal area. Marina lived the last 20 years in Alberta, close to her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marina was predeceased by her siblings, her husband Albert (2002), and her son Glenn (2013). Marina will be lovingly remembered by her sons Gary and Neil (Patti Ann); by her grandchildren Scott (Colleen), Kim (Pete), Ryan, Danny, Miranda (Matt), Allan (Dominique), and Rebecca; and by her great grandchildren Brooke, Nate, Jenny, Jill, Emily, Jacqueline, Jacqueline and Robert. Marina also held close relationships with, and will be fondly remembered by, her nephews and nieces.
Marina attended church every Sunday and had weekly hair salon appointments. She was kind and gracious, enjoyed hosting family and friends, crafted and sewed, and had a love of singing. Marina enjoyed life, travelling many places by bus, air or cruise liner. Marina volunteered for several organizations including the church, the foodbank and senior centres. Although Marina was a chiefly a homemaker, she built community through friends, homebased sales ventures, barbershop singing, and her unwavering dedication to church and community.
Marina will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Albert In the Garden of Last Supper, at Rideau Memorial Gardens, Dollard-des Ormeaux, Quebec.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
