It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful mother, Marjorie Byrne, in her 102nd year.

Marjorie arrived in Montreal, from England, in September, 1960. She came over by ship with 5 children in tow, with her husband Henry “Harry”, already working here and anxiously awaiting his family. They welcomed 3 more children in Canada.

Marjorie loved to sing and we remember her spontaneous singing during everyday activities, like cooking and doing household chores. She was an active choir member and parishioner at Holy Family Parish in Two-Mountains, for many years. She joined several more choirs while living in the Cambridge Retirement Residences in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Marjorie was close to nature and was in awe of the natural world. During our childhood she ran a health food co-op from our family home. She was a lifelong learner, with too many interests to list. She could write well, and told a good story. She loved poetry and surprised us in these latter years by reciting so many poems, and singing so many songs, which she knew by heart. She also played recorders, painted and drew, and was a natural artist.

She will be dearly missed by her 8 children, Anne, Guy, Christine (Raymond), John, Andrew, Peter (Christina), Michelle, and David (Annick), as well as 13 grandchildren, Yvonne, Zara, Tim, Caiti, Robyn, James, Jackie, Sean, Harrison, Joey, Leigh, Liam, and Alicia, 1 great- grandchild, August, and many treasured extended family members and friends.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence staff for their exceptional kindness and dedicated care during our mum’s final days.

Our family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home 4239 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc, on Tuesday, June 9, from 2–4pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on location at 4pm, followed by a reception from 5-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s cherished memory to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence would be greatly appreciated.
https://ResidenceSoinsPalliatifs.ca/
