It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marva Carter (née Tynes), on June 18th, 2026, at the age of 89. Marva passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 29, 1936, Marva was the cherished daughter of Clarence Tynes and Evelyn Harrington, and the beloved stepdaughter of Elsie Clyke.
Marva was a devoted wife and best friend to George Carter for more than 67 years. She was the loving mother of George Carter Jr. (Sherry) and Elsa Carter-Lawrence (Carl), and a proud and devoted grandmother to Hayley and Breanna.
She will be forever missed by her sisters, Marlene (Tee) Clyke and Veronica Alleyne, and her brother-in-law, Jimmy Alleyne. She was predeceased by her brother, Clarence Tynes Jr. Marva also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Mom will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her extended family, especially Leslie and Yves, who provided tremendous support, love, and companionship over the years.
Her unwavering strength, kindness, and generous spirit in caring for others will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses of the CLSC Palliative Care Team for their compassionate care and support, especially Nurse Julie, who truly was our angel.
