It is with great sadness that Mary Dacoulis Hadgipetros, 91, of Montreal, Quebec passed on after a battle with cancer on the morning of June 23rd, 2021.

Mary was born on April 4, 1930, to Evangelos Dacoulis and Angeliki Magou in Athens, Greece. Mary was about 10 during the Greco-Italian war, and 11 when Pireaus was bombed by the Germans, which was soon followed by the invasion of Athens. Mary's father foresaw the coming famine in Athens and moved the family to the countryside where Mary helped her parents with a cafe.

After the war, the family moved back to Athens where Mary got her first job as a seamstress. Mary would often talk about how pleasant, beautiful, and interesting Athens was while dating the young man Dimitrios Hadgipetros who had become her lifelong spouse. They shared an enjoyment of strolling and a passion for theater.

After getting married, Mary and Dimitrios immigrated to Montreal, Canada. They
ran a successful restaurant business and had 2 children. Mary's sparkling home was her castle and she loved nothing more than warmly and courteously hosting an endless stream of visitors.

In retirement, Mary and Dimitrios enjoyed traveling in the summer months and bought a condo in Greece that they visited annually.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, her son, Evans Hadgipetros, and recently, her beloved brother, Fred Dacoulis. She is survived by her first-born son, John Hadgipetros, her beloved brothers John and Kosta Dacoulis, her devoted sisters-in-law, Paritsa and Lina Dacoulis, and devoted niece Kathy Kappos.

Mary loved her retirement home and staff at the residence where she stayed for the last 5 years.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at Rideau Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 4275 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6.
Church Services will take Place on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Greek Orthodox Church Sts. Constantine & Helen at 20 Brunswick, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, H9B 2N8,

Due to Covid-19, some restrictions applies.
