At the age of 82, Mary left this world to join her parents, Elizabeth and Mike Petrik, her sister, Anne Darbyson, her beloved son, Darren, and her longtime friend and ex-husband, Derek Moger.
She left behind her loving daughter, Charlene who considered it a privilege to care for her in her final months of illness.

Mary will be missed by her in-laws Brian and Irene, and Hugh and Grace Moger, as well as nephews Steven(Rina), Rodney (Alexandria), Scott, Ian(Tracey) Moger and their families; and by Bradley (Erica) Darbyson and niece Susan (Vince) Madlinger..

Mary grew up in the 1940s and 1950s in Ville St-Laurent. The friends she made then are friends to this day, scattered across Canada. When a new family moved in across the road, Mary, about 7 years old, sitting on the steps of the front porch with friends, pointed to the middle son and proclaimed “That’s the boy I’m going to marry”. In 1963, at the age of 20, she married that boy Derek Moger. They welcomed Charlene in 1964 and Darren in 1966. Even after divorcing in 1981, Derek would say he would always love Mary. They suffered the devastating loss of their son in 1993. Derek passed away on December 23, 2000.

The last year of Mary’s life was spent in her childhood home with her daughter. Captain Jack Sparrow (the cat) comforted her in her final months.
She touched so many lives, especially the friends of her children Darren and Charlene. She always had a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and advice to give! She was “Miss Mary” to many.

She loved and mourned deeply and felt immense joy in her life of ups and downs. She loved Christmas, shoes, Coronet pizza, dog-sitting and helping her friends and neighbours. Her laugh and smile could light up a room. And she was loved.

Special thanks to the palliative care unit of the CLSC and Hôpital Sacré-Coeur for their caring dedication to Mary in her final weeks.

Please join Charlene, family and friends at a gathering to celebrate her life on Saturday, January 10,2026 from 1:30 to 5:30.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your favourite organization. And in her memory, perform a random act of kindness to make the world a better place.
