With profound sorrow, we share the news of Matthew Adam Emrich’s passing on March 3, 2024. After a valiant struggle with cancer, marked by immense courage and unyielding dignity, Matthew departed from this world much too soon. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and resilience that deeply touched everyone he met.

Matthew was a beacon of love and generosity to his family: his parents, Jacob (Jack) and Audrey (Malick); his sister, Kristen (Michael DeLisio); his nephew, Luca; his grandmother, Katharina Emrich; and his grandfather, John Malick. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends and relatives whose lives he enriched.

Matthew’s fondness for board games and cosplay brought joy and laughter to many gatherings, creating cherished memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. His love of nature and wildlife was inspiring. He will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature and the positive impact he made on the lives of everyone he encountered.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to George Michaels, Alex McKeown, Dr. Scott Owen, and the entire medical team at the Montreal Neuro and the Royal Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care and support throughout Matthew’s illness.

A visitation service will be held to honor Matthew’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations be made in his memory to The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, The Montreal Neuro, or charity of your choice.
