In loving memory of Mavis Robins (nee Thackray) who passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2026, at the age of 86, in her residence in Beaconsfield, Quebec.
Mavis was born April 5th, 1939, in Brawby, England, to parents Thomas and Ethel Thackray. Mavis was the second in her family to attend university (after her brother, Ivan). She attended Liverpool University following her passion for teaching as well as being drawn to the big city (NOT just to see an exciting new band that later became the Beatles!). While at Liverpool, Mavis met her husband and love of her life, the late Geoffrey Robins.
The young couple moved to Canada for job opportunities and to raise their growing family. They were blessed with three children: Simon (Isabelle), Duncan (Darcy), and Kenna (Marc) and eight grandchildren: Day, Pascale, Liam, Canyon, Philippe, Ella, Sarah and Lucas.
Mavis made many friends, and especially during their years living Nanaimo, British Columbia and Ottawa, Ontario. While not a fan of the cold or snow in Ottawa, she loved the time spent with her dear friends and sharing her love for quilting, sewing and crafting wherever they were.
The family want to thank their long-time caregiver, Francia, for the love and compassion she afforded both Geoff and Mavis, making them as comfortable as possible until they passed.
A celebration of her life will take place at Rideau Funeral Home
Located at 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux (Quebec) H9B 2A6, on Monday, April 6, 2026, visitation from 9:00-10:00am, followed by a small service from 10:00-11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, a cause near and dear to the family.
