<div itemprop="description"><br>Obituary for Dr. Mehdi Amiri known as “Mehdi” to his friends, “Mihan” to his family, “Doctor” to his wife and grandson, and “Baba” to his children, passed away in his 86th year on December 9, 2025, surrounded by his family at Lakeshore Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Born on December 17, 1938, in Tehran, Iran, Mehdi married the love of his life, Parvin Haghighi, and they shared a beautiful love story for over 57 years, and he was the beloved father of Shirin and Farhad, proud grandfather of Eyden and proud step-grandfather of Harrison and Benjamin. Mehdi is survived by his brother, Gholamali and by his sisters Frough and Banoo. Mehdi was predeceased by his father, Abolfazi Amiri, his mother, Shamsolmolouk Amin Tafreshikeyhani and his younger brother, Shahrouz Amiri.<br><br>Mehdi attended School of Pharmacy, University of Tehran and obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1962 and then served in the military for 4 years. During his High School and University years, he was a soccer player and his love for the game continued throughout his life. He then worked at Lederle as VP of Pharmaceutical Division and then later at Ciba-Geigy both in Tehran. Concomitantly, he owned and operated a pharmacy in the city of Ahvaz from 1968 until his departure from Iran in August 1980.<br><br>In 1980, he went to live with his family in Cambridge, England and then he moved to London in 1981, and pursued further studies in Pharmacy with world-renowned Professor Arnold Beckett, School of Pharmacy, University of London. He left to visit his brother in Barcelona from 1982 to 1983, and then he immigrated to Canada in July 1983.<br><br>From 1983, he held various positions to help support his family in a new country and faced various challenges until he decided to study and succeeded on the first attempt the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC), and then shortly after he became a licensed pharmacist in Ontario in 1995. He worked initially as a pharmacist in Kingston and Ottawa, and then later as Pharmacy Manager in Pembroke and Cornwall where he ended his career as a pharmacist of 42 years in 2020.<br><br>He had a profound and heartfelt influence on the lives of those who knew him including many patients and healthcare professionals, friends and family, and his gentle spirit, wisdom, and warmth will live on in their hearts forever.<br><br>Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Boul. Des Sources, Dollard des Ormeaux, QC. A graveside service will be held at Le Cimetière de Laval, QC, details to be determined.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross</div>
