Michael Edward Kieran, born June 3, 1947 in Montreal passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; his children, Melissa (Bruce) in Tokyo and Philip (Kate) in Perth, Australia; and his adoring grandchildren Liam, Nolan, and Emmett McDonald, and Dempsey and Harper Kieran. He will be missed by many friends and his extended family.
Son of Albert and Mary Kieran (Shallow), Mike studied physics at Loyola College (Concordia) and earned his Master of Science in nuclear physics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He worked his entire career as a Certified Management Consultant in the transportation industry - first as a partner at KPMG, many years at Canadian Pacific Railway, and then consulting on special transportation projects. In retirement, he devoted his time and leadership skills to the community. He was particularly proud of his group accomplishments with the Pillars Trust Fund board.
Mike and Shirley enjoyed travelling, especially their winters in Australia with Philip and his family. He loved to golf, and he treasured the meaningful friendships he developed. A man of deep faith, Mike cherished his time to read and reflect, bringing him comfort and peace through his recent illness.
Mike will be remembered for his good natured sense of humour, sharp wit, and generous spirit. He was a loyal friend, an animated storyteller and a wise advisor. He’s left us with an abundance of valuable lessons and funny memories. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC, from 4:00–6:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Edmund of Canterbury, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield, QC at 11:00 AM.
