It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Michael J. McNally at the young age of 74 on July 6th, 2021 due to a sudden diagnosis of Glioblastoma, brain cancer. He was a loving and devoted husband to Beatrice Manzo with whom he shared 50+ wonderful years of marriage.

Mike lived life to its fullest and was deeply loved by his entire family. He was the proud father of his treasured daughters Lea (Jeffrey), Tara (Gregg) and Krista (Stephen) and a proud "Papa" to his grandchildren Jossia, Jaden, Emily, Ryan, and Matthew who brought him tremendous joy.

Mike was the dear son of deceased parents Oliver (Bud) and Mary, big brother to Pat (Margaret), Liz, and Paul (Lynn) and brother-in-law to Connie (predeceased by Bill) and Belinda (Sam).

Uncle Mike was respected and will be dearly remembered by Tina, Mike, Nick, Michael, Angela, Tanya, Mark, Alex, and Laura.

After graduating from St Joseph's Teacher's College in 1967, he taught at John XXIII for two years then left to complete his Bachelor of Science in 1969 at Concordia University and in 1972 he earned his Masters in the Teaching of Mathematics at Sir George Williams University. In May 1970, Mike began his 33 year career as math teacher and department head at Lower Canada College and then spent another 10 years teaching Calculus at John Abbott College. He touched thousands of students' lives with his passion for math and determination to help each of his students succeed.

Mike was an 11-year lymphoma survivor due to his positive attitude and his fighting Irish spirit. Anyone who knew Mike, personally or professionally, will know that he possessed a joie de vivre, and had a special love for the Expos, Notre Dame football, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also loved Broadway musicals and would have auditioned for the part of Henry Higgins in 'My Fair Lady' if he were able to carry a tune! Since his retirement, Mike's "office" was situated on the beaches of Florida. His beaming smile, big heart, and long-winded storytelling will no doubt be missed by all.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Rideau Memorial Gardens on July 12 at 10:30am . Sadly, due to Covid-19 restrictions the funeral will be a private event for immediate family. A live stream will be available virtually for those who wish to view the service and eulogies. The link will be shared on Rideau Memorial's website when available.

Donations in memory of Mike may be made to The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Centre or NOVA West Island or a charity of your choice.
