It is with deep sadness that the family of Mohamed Shaieb announce his passing on March 27, 2025, in Montreal, Canada.

Treasured husband of the late Shafferun (Shaffie) Shaieb, devoted father and father-in-law of Ijaz Shaieb and Elaine Arshinoff, Fareeda Shaieb and Marcus Keane. Proud and loving Nana of Alexander and Lucy.

Born in Dundee, Guyana, he was the youngest son in a large family and grew up on a rice farm. Mohamed moved to Trinidad at a young age to pursue his education. While living there, he met the love of his life, Shaffie. They were married for almost 60 years until her passing in 2024.

They moved to Montreal in 1966 to pursue their dreams in Canada, and Mohamed obtained his Master’s degree in Biology at Sir George Williams. He then obtained a teaching diploma and taught high-school sciences. He soon followed his passion for vehicles and transportation, and started to work on CN trains travelling across Canada, eventually transitioning to Via Rail Canada’s corporate office. He ended his career in an independent travel company.

Mohamed loved cars and vehicles, spending his free time tinkering and fixing them up, and always learning more. Plants and gardening were another passion, and the flower and vegetable gardens he kept were his pride and joy.

But more than anything, he was devoted to his family, enjoying the simple pleasures of being at home and gathering with loved ones. His playful nature and quick wit meant that there was always plenty of laughter when he was around. His patient, calm and thoughtful words provided guidance, teaching, and a lighthearted approach to any problem that arose. His calm presence reassured those around him, and he always found practical solutions without fuss. He took special joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who were the sunshine of his later years. To them, there was nothing he didn’t know or couldn’t do.

He suffered from Parkinson’s disease in his final years. To his loved ones, he remains forever young at heart, and he will be deeply missed.

You can follow the link to watch the livestream: https://fweb.tv/175707
