It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Nadia Mallouk (née Kheir) on January 11, 2019, at The West Island Palliative Care Residence surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1946 in Egypt, to Elias and Angelina Kheir, who have since passed on. She married our Father Jean Georges Mallouk on July 29, 1965, and they will now reunite in eternal life.

Nadia will be dearly missed by her son Elie (Marie), and daughters Carole (Robb), Maryse (Roberto) and Patricia (Michael) and all of her grandchildren: Anthony, Olivia, Andrew, John, Julia, Emma, Marco, and Sarina. She is survived by her sister Leila (Abdallah), her niece Dina and nephews, Joe and Rick and their families.

Nadia was a caregiver by nature. In addition to working in the home and raising four children, she also took care of her aging mother as well as our father. Even after her children grew to be adults with their own families, she continued to speak with us daily to ensure our well-being, invited us over weekly for family dinners, and made sure we called her when we were traveling far to let her know when we arrived safely.

She was also very resilient - she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 12 years ago, ovarian cancer 4 years ago, and suffered multiple heart attacks. Yet she still enjoyed a good quality of life, playing dominos with her best friends, and even demonstrated that resilience by traveling on a cruise with her family only a week before she passed away. Despite her situation, she was always smiling, happy to see her family reunited and enjoying each other`s company on vacation.

The family wishes to recognize the great care our mother received at the Cedars Cancer Centre (with Dr. Gilbert and Dr. Sebag’s teams), as well as that received at home from her caregiver Analyn Las. Because of their contributions, our mother enjoyed an excellent quality of life until her final days.

The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Blvd. des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., and on Friday January 18 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Interment and a mercy meal, all of which will be held at Rideau Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cedars Cancer Centre, West Island Palliative Care Residence, HEMA Quebec or to the Saint-George Antiochian Orthodox Church will be appreciated.
