<div itemprop="description">French version below. <br> <br>Paul Garnet, aged 93, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Sunrise residence in Beaconsfield, Quebec, after a period of declining health. <br> <br>Born on March 20, 1932, in Lincoln, England, the son of godly parents, Alfred and Florence (nee Chilvers) Garnet, Paul developed a deep appreciation for the Bible at the historic Lincoln School – a grounding that would remain with him throughout his life. <br> <br>As a young man, Paul spent time in France teaching at a lycée and fellowshipping with Christians in the Reformed tradition. It was back in England where he met his beloved wife, Eunice Mason. Together they began their family with the birth of two sons, and, following a call to support local churches in Quebec, immigrated to Canada in 1964. <br> <br>In Montreal, Paul and Eunice worshipped at l’Assemblée Rosemont, and participated in other ministries including Sermons from Science during Expo 67. After welcoming their daughter into the family, they returned briefly to the UK from 1972 to 1973 so Paul could pursue further theological studies at St. Mary’s College in St. Andrews, Scotland. <br> <br>Upon returning to Montreal, Paul continued his Bible teaching at Cote-St-Luc Bible Chapel—later known as West End Christian Fellowship—and also taught at Camp Joli-Baie and Camp Brochet. In later years, he remained devoted to fellowship and teaching at Grace Gospel Hall. He also served on the Protestant Committee of the Superior Council of Education of Quebec. <br> <br>Paul obtained an MA from Sheffield University and a PhD from McGill University, and taught in the Department of Theological Studies at Concordia University. A scholar of the New Testament and the Dead Sea Scrolls, he presented and published articles on salvation and atonement themes and on the exilic context of New Testament gospel writings. <br> <br>Beyond academia and ministry, Paul cherished time with family and found joy in books, theology, philosophy, history, gardening, and above all else—the Word of God. His love for Scripture brought peace not only to himself but also to those around him through every chapter of life. <br> <br>Paul is lovingly remembered by his children and grandson: Marcus (married to Christine Mills), Jeremy (married to Anne Samuel), and Stephanie (married to Christian Breton), Michael (son of Anne and Jeremy). He was predeceased by his dear wife Eunice Mason. <br> <br>Paul Garnet’s legacy endures through the lives he touched—as a father, teacher, scholar, mentor, and servant of Christ. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on August 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Rideau Funeral Home, 4239 Sources Blvd. There will be an opportunity to socialize around refreshments following the service. <br> <br> <br>Paul Garnet, âgé de 93 ans, est décédé paisiblement le 13 août 2025, à la Maison de vie Sunrise de Beaconsfield, au Québec, après une période de santé déclinante. <br> <br>Né le 20 mars 1932 à Lincoln, en Angleterre, de parents pieux, Alfred et Florence (née Chilvers) Garnet, Paul a développé une profonde appréciation de la Bible à l'école historique de Lincoln – une éducation qui l'accompagnera toute sa vie. <br> <br>Jeune homme, Paul a passé du temps en France à enseigner dans un lycée et à fréquenter des chrétiens de tradition réformée. C'est de retour en Angleterre qu'il a rencontré sa chère épouse, Eunice Mason. Ensemble, ils ont fondé une famille avec la naissance de deux fils et, suite à un appel à soutenir les églises locales au Québec, ils ont immigré au Canada en 1964. <br> <br>À Montréal, Paul et Eunice ont adoré le Seigneur avec l'Assemblée de Rosemont et ont participé à d'autres ministères, notamment Sermons from Science lors de l'Expo 67. Spécialiste du Nouveau Testament et des manuscrits de la mer Morte, il a présenté et publié des articles sur les thèmes du salut et de l'expiation, ainsi que sur le contexte exilique des écrits évangéliques du Nouveau Testament. <br> <br>Au-delà de ses études et de son ministère, Paul appréciait le temps passé en famille et trouvait sa joie dans les livres, la théologie, la philosophie, l'histoire, le jardinage et, par-dessus tout, la Parole de Dieu. Son amour des Écritures a apporté la paix non seulement à lui-même, mais aussi à ceux qui l'entouraient, à chaque étape de sa vie. <br> <br>Paul laisse un profond souvenir chez ses enfants et son petit-fils : Marcus (marié à Christine Mills), Jeremy (marié à Anne Samuel) et Stephanie (mariée à Christian Breton), Michael (fils d'Anne et de Jeremy). Sa chère épouse, Eunice Mason, l'a précédé dans la mort. <br> <br>L'héritage de Paul Garnet perdure à travers les vies qu'il a touchées : père, enseignant, érudit, mentor et serviteur du Christ. Que sa mémoire apporte du réconfort à ceux qui l'ont connu. <br> <br>Une cérémonie commémorative aura lieu le 21 août 2025 à midi à la Maison funéraire Rideau, située au 4239, boulevard des Sources.
