It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Geukers on March 23, 2023 at the age of 97.

Peter leaves behind his wife Henny, three children Madelon (Bill), Paul (Leslie) and Peter-Shawn (Debbie), as well as his grandchildren Eric, Ryan, Karen, David, Mackenzie, and Taylor and his great grandchildren Daniella, Sophia, David, Will, and Jack.

Peter was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands, where he graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Delft University of Technology. After emigrating to Canada in 1951, he earned a second degree in electrical engineering from McGill and in 1966 he became a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec. Peter’s interest was in systems design engineering; during his 40 year career at Canadair (later Bombardier), Peter assumed positions of increasing responsibility within the engineering organization and senior management.

Peter married his wife Henny in 1954 after she too emigrated from the Netherlands. They lived in Beaurepaire for many years where they began their family. In 1967, Peter designed their new home in Beaconsfield which was his pride and joy, and is where he lived for the rest of his life.

Peter loved swimming; he started a daily swimming routine in his twenties that he maintained into his nineties. He also played and coached water polo for much of his adult life. In addition, he loved gardening and reading a wide range of subjects. He was a very active member of St. Edmund of Canterbury parish.

We wish to thank Dr. Dollois and the staff at Manoir Beaconsfield for the care he received during his final days.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Edmund of Canterbury church in Beaconsfield on Friday, March 31st at noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Montreal Neurological Institute.
