It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Kemper on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 80.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Hazel Kemper (nee Stultz), his son David and his daughter-in-law Julie, his sister-in-law, Elsa Cardoza, and nephew, Victor Cardoza and his wife Nadine.

He will also be missed by the many friends and neighbours he touched with his friendliness and kindness.

Peter (affectionately known as “Pete”) and Hazel were married for 51 years–with “no chance for parole,” he’d jokingly add with a big smile and a wink. He was proud of his son and loved chatting with him about the weather, cars, and the latest news.

He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Alida Kemper, whom he loved and spoke of fondly. Growing up in the city, Peter spent summers at his parent’s cottage in Joliet, Quebec, appreciating all aspects of the great outdoors. Not surprisingly, even in his old age, he was always outside his West Island home cutting his lawn in the Summer, raking leaves in the Fall, and shovelling snow in the Winter.

He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a thoughtful and helpful heart. He was a man anchored in his Catholic faith and prayer, trusting in God and attending Mass. He was a comforting presence in the lives of his wife and son. This is a farewell, not a goodbye.

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” - John 10:10

“Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.” - Hebrews 11:1

Viewing and condolences will be held at St. John Fisher Parish on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the charity of your choice or to St. John Fisher Parish.
