With immense sadness and an endless sense of loss, the family of Pierre Daoust announces his passing on November 28, 2025, at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Pointe Claire, Québec. Born in Montreal on June 5, 1941, to Joseph Daoust and Fernande Leclair.
Pierre began his career with the RCAF, a member of the 405 Search and Rescue Squadron in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. He continued in the aviation field, returning to Montreal and beginning a 32-year career with Air Canada. He devoted many years to the Pointe Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit, serving as director from 1978-1984.
Pierre's skill set reflected his roots as a millwright, a man of immeasurable talent with a hand in many trades and a master among them: tree surgeon, carpenter, entrepreneur, renovator, technical planner and problem solver. There was no project, be it as challenging as building an addition on a house, or precisely felling a 30 foot tree, that he felt was beyond his capability. Even when those “20 minute jobs” turned into hours, each one was always finished to perfection. His great passion for wood-working was evident throughout his fully equipped workshop, one where never a tool was out of place.
Most knew Pierre for his unwavering willingness to lend a hand - or one of his many tools - as well as his always informative gift of gab to anyone within earshot, whether they were up for a lesson or not. For those of us lucky enough to have known him for a lifetime, we remember him for so much more: devoted husband, cherished father, and selfless friend. Gone, but never ever forgotten.
Deeply mourning his loss are his wife of 58 years, Carolyn ( Schnare ), daughter Valerie ( Tim ), son Daniel ( Marie-Lyne ) and precious granddaughter Brooke.
Predeceased by his brother Robert ( Jocelyne ), sister-in-law Dorothy ( Ken ), brother-in-law Donnie, survived by his brother André ( Denise, deceased ), sisters-in-law, Pauline ( Willis, deceased ), Glenda ( Gary ) and Madeline ( Reinhold ), nieces and nephews, devoted friends Pamela and Giles Raymond.
Burial service at a later date in Nova Scotia.
Donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
