It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Despina (Pinio), in Montreal, at the age of 99, beloved and devoted wife of Christos for 71 years. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Helen (Alex Mawdryk), and her grandchildren, Christina and Andrew (Brittany), who were the light of her life.
Daughter of the late Rebecca and late Zaharias Kripotos, she was the beloved sister of Marika (the late Costadino), and predeceased by her siblings Eleni (the late Dimitri), Metaxia (George), Mihali (Nota), Vassily (Dimitra), and of sister-in-law Vasiliky (the late George). She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, koumbari, friends, and her goddaughter, Sophie.
Born in the small village of Pakia, Greece, Pinio carried her deep love for her homeland throughout her life. Even after immigrating to Montreal in 1955, her heart always remained connected to Greece. She shared a lifelong bond with her siblings, staying closely connected whether they were down the street or overseas.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she worked tirelessly to build a beautiful life for her family. Pinio will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her unwavering pride in her daughter and grandchildren. She found immense joy in watching them grow and succeed, whilst always supporting them. Her home was filled with laughter, warmth, and the comforting aromas of home-cooked Greek meals. The family especially anticipated her delicious “migdalata” that she was famous for. She was exceptionally talented in dress-making, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting and loved to read.
Her love, strength, and laughter will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be held at Rideau Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4239 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, H9B 2A6 on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Constantine & Ste. Helen's Orthodox Church, 20 Brunswick Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, H9B 2N8.
