It is with profound sadness that we announce the very sudden passing of Ralf Schmidt on
August 12, 2023 at home in St-Lazare, Quebec.

Loving son to the late Helmut and Vera Schmidt, Ralf was born November 24, 1958 in Forchheim, Germany and emigrated to Montreal in 1960 with his courageous parents, big brother Christian (Lynda) and cousin Harald. He is also survived by his step-sister Dominique, nieces, nephews, great-nieces as well as cousins in Germany.

To his surviving wife, partner and best friend Nancy, Ralf was the world. Together for almost 41 years, Ralf and Nancy shared many moments of joy and love together. Ralf never missed a little opportunity to show his love even in just the simplest rub of a back when standing side by side or kiss on the forehead.

To his surviving son Eric (Bianca), Ralf was always the biggest supporter and greatest friend. They shared a love of sports, animals and sarcasm. They shared the ability to carry on a witty comment or joke without a second thought. Extremely proud of their heritage, they never missed an opportunity to celebrate it.

Ralf is predeceased by his father-in-law Reg and is survived by his mother-in-law Kathy. He was a model son-in-law, trying Reg's wildly creative soup concoctions many years ago and supporting Kathy by always tackling her "honey-do" list once Reg was gone. Ralf and Kathy shared a special bond.

To his surviving family and friends, Ralf was patient, loving and funny. He was a dedicated employee of Frisco Bay/Stanley/Securitas for 43 years. He was the man who would sit with his two-year old great-niece talking about the trees and birds she pointed out.

To all who loved him, he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Ralf and his life will take place on Sunday August 27 at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, DDO from 1 - 4 pm.
Homages will be rendered to Ralf at 2pm. For those who would like to join the family virtually for this moment, you may do so by using the following link to our livestream platform: https://fweb.tv/106886

To honour Ralf's kindness and generosity, in lieu of flowers, his family asks that you consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, a charitable organization of your choice or to an animal rescue organization. You can also do something special for a family member, loved one or friend. He would love that. He was that guy.
