Rhoda peacefully left her earthly dwelling and joyfully entered her heavenly home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior.

Rhoda’s legacy and life reflected her mission to serve God, her family and her community.

Rhoda always had a glowing smile, warm hugs, and determined resolve that edified and deeply touched everyone she met. Her youthful spirit, her caring life and warm heart were dedicated to an unwavering love of life and faith in Jesus Christ that she shared with anyone who crossed her path. She was also passionate in her discourse of politics.

She was a wife, mother, homemaker, pianist, reader, writer, singer, artist, poet, gardener, and teacher. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, she loved her home church, the Apostolic Faith Church, where she sang and played the bass violin. At the age of 22, she moved to Lachine (Montreal), Canada to begin her life with her husband, John, where they raised their family. She was selflessly involved in her community as a Sunday school teacher, Home and School Association member, and volunteer at the Welcome Hall Mission and Samaritan’s Purse. She was active in Lachine’s business community not only working with her husband in their clothing store “Au Petit Chateau” but also later as a real estate agent.

Rhoda’s life reflected her often stated quote: “I’d rather my name be engraved on the hearts of men than on tablets of stone”. She was a friend to many and loved by all. Her home was always a welcoming place, sharing home-cooked meals and lively conversations with new and old friends. Until the age of 92, she kindly visited family and friends in their homes, by their hospital bedside, or in the mall, often bringing plates of home-baked cakes and casseroles. A strong and passionate advocate for causes she believed in, she collected thousands of signatures to keep the Lachine Hospital and Lakeside Academy School open.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kaady Johnson. Rhoda will be deeply missed by her children, John, Paul (Marisa), Georgina (Norman), and Raymond (Karen), her nine grandchildren, Paul, Jordan, Lisa, Kathryn, Kristen, Michael, Eliana, John-Anthony and Jessica as well as many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The celebration of Rhoda’s life will be live streamed on YouTube on Saturday, April 10th at 12 P.M. EST at https://youtu.be/aw2lbq-LIqg (copy/paste). In lieu of flowers, Rhoda, charitable as always, requested donations be made to the Lachine Hospital Foundation, World Vision and/or Made to Live Fund www.madetolive.com.
