<div itemprop="description">Richard Barbieri, 79 years old of Pointe-Claire, passed suddenly surrounded by his family, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Lakeshore General Hospital. <br> <br>Richard was born May 7th 1943 to the late Mario and Julia Barbieri (née Walsh) in Montreal, Quebec. Big brother to Bryan (Carol-Ann) and Julie (John). <br>Loving husband of 57 years to Mary Kempffer, proud father to Jacqueline (Bob), Lisa (Sam) and Chris (Marlene); we will forever miss him. <br>Cherished grandfather to Allister James (Maripier), Kaylie, Briana, Matthew and Terrence, as well as uncle to nieces Lauren (Paul), Andrea (Mike), and cousin to many (Walsh/Hutchison!). <br> <br>Richard was a passionate teacher and administrator for the Montreal Catholic School Commission for 33 years, followed by more than 10 years teaching business communication at Concordia University, and 10 years at McGill as a student teacher supervisor. <br> <br>Aside from being a lifelong teacher he was also a “passionate” sports enthusiast, following the CFL, NFL (Giants), Montreal Canadiens and loved playing golf (especially with lifelong friend Peter Jarvis). <br> <br>Visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home (4275 boul des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC) on Wednesday, March 1st from 2 pm to 4 pm followed by a memorial service at 4 pm. <br> <br>Donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society of Canada. <br> <br>“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops” <br></div>
