Richard Henry Akerly
January 29, 1943 - December 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Akerly on December 25th, 2021. Resident of Dollard Des Ormeaux for many years, Richard was in the fire protection industry for years in Montreal. Richard was an avid sportsman, he coached little league baseball, boys hockey, and refereed Old Timer's Hockey, couched Men's Lobball and was an active and loved member of Glenmore Curling Club.
Richard leaves behind his wife of 56 years Geraldine Akerly, his son William Akerly, granddaughter Maisie June Akerly-Oshell and her mother Sarah Oshell, brother Pierre Mehlitz, niece Shannon Hagerman, nephew Jonathan Favreau, in-laws Marsha and Jim Hendrickson, Jocelyn Favreau, Cathy Colford-Mehlitz, god son Jeffery Bishop, and many many friends who loved his wit and sense of humor. Rick was loved by so many as a reliable and steadfast friend, and a legendary Montreal Canadiens fan, "Go Habs, Go!".
Celebration of life for friends and family will take place at a later date.
