Our family is deeply saddened to share the passing of Ritaline Budhoo Hauck on October 4th 2025.
She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and dedicated herself professionally to the care of others as a nurse. She is survived by her husband Egon Hauck, daughters Shamra Hauck and husband David Parisien, and Arlene Hauck and husband Andrew Torriani, and her grandchildren Stephanie, William and Gwenyth Torriani, Krista and Shannon Parisien.
Life
Ritaline “Rita” Budhoo Hauck was born in 1933 in St. Georges, Grenada, to Maude and Israel Budhoo. Her father was a driver and her mother a seamstress. Raised with humble beginnings, Rita was the middle child among three sisters and one brother, all of whom excelled academically.
A devout young woman, Rita’s faith played a guiding role throughout her life. She once aspired to become a nun, a reflection of her deep compassion and desire to serve others. In her early twenties, Rita moved to England to pursue studies in nursing at St. Helier Hospital, where she qualified as a registered nurse and midwife. Seeking new opportunities, she later immigrated to Montreal, Canada, where her life’s next chapter began.
Family
In 1963, Rita met and married Egon Hauck, who had immigrated to Canada from Germany. Together, they built a loving home rooted in mutual respect, hard work, and devotion to family. Rita and Egon were blessed with two daughters, whom they raised with love, patience, and strong values. Rita often worked the evening shift as a nurse so she could be home with her children during the day, while her husband cared for them in the evenings. Their partnership reflected a deep and enduring bond of teamwork and understanding. Rita became a grandmother in 1998 and was affectionately known as “Oma” to her five grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Career and Service
Rita dedicated more than 30 years of her life to nursing, serving at the Montreal General Hospital, Lakeshore General Hospital, and Bussey Hospital. Known for her skill, dedication, and gentle bedside manner, she cared deeply for her patients and colleagues alike. Her commitment to service extended beyond her profession — Rita’s life was a quiet example of compassion, generosity, and grace. She was respected not only for her professional excellence but also for her empathy and warmth toward others.
Legacy
Those who knew Rita best will remember her as a kind soul — empathetic, inspiring, and comforting to be around. To her family, she was a gentle and nurturing grandmother, a devoted wife, and a strong, independent mother who led by example. She taught her daughters to respect and value others, to work hard, to do what is right, and to follow their own paths with courage and integrity. Rita’s strength of spirit, love for her family, and unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In Remembrance
Rita is survived by her beloved husband, Egon Hauck, her daughters, and her five cherished grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who offered care, kindness, and support in recent years.
May her soul rest in eternal peace under God’s grace.
