It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Barnard, on December 4th, 2024 at the Ste-Anne’s Veterans Hospital, in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec at the age of 87.
He will be joining his beloved wife Rossine (Craig) who predeceased him 10 years ago, his dear parents Lillian and Roy, sister Carol and brother Michael.
He will be dearly missed by his children Wendy (Ken), Robert (Jr.), Steven, daughter-in-law Donna, and fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin), Ryan, Shane and his great grandson Jackson whom he loved with all his heart.
He also leaves behind his sister Susie (Dan), his nephews and nieces, Terry, Danny, Debbie and Kevin, as well as many other family and friends.
Bob Barnard was born in Hamilton in 1937, he joined the RCAF in 1955. Trained as a radar technician at RCAF station Namao near Edmonton, and at the Pinetree Line Station in Parent, Quebec, and served overseas in Metz, France during the cold war. He left the RCAF in 1960 with the rank of Leading Aircraftman to marry and start a family.
He joined CAE (Canadian Aviation Electronics Ltd) in December 1960. There he held a number of service positions and travelled widely in his various duties, eventually rising to be Director of Field service at the close of his 42 year career.
In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, renovating his house, researching his genealogy, gardening, and weekly outings to the Royal Canadian Legion with friends at the St-Laurent Branch #250 and later at the Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Churchill Branch #91.
Special thanks go to the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, and the staff at the Ste-Anne’s Veterans Hospital for all their warmth and professionalism and for making his last days comfortable and pain free. We are eternally grateful.
A memorial service will be held at Rideau Funeral home, 4275 boul. Des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc, on December 28th 2024 form 1 pm to 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the Ste-Anne’s Veterans Hospital and /or the Royal Canadian Legion can be made in his honor.
