It is with great sadness that we share the news of Ron's passing. Dad passed away peacefully, with his family at his side. From his roots in Dugald, Manitoba, to his beloved Beaconsfield, Quebec, Dad made friends wherever he went. Zealously social, naturally charming, and incredibly funny and generous, Dad's enthusiasm for living was infectious. Dad treated everyone with great humour, sincerity and respect, and his numerous long-lasting friendships are evidence of his genuine love of people.
An exceptional cook, Dad's favourite moments were spent presiding over large, boisterous family suppers in the backyard. His eggs benedict were legendary, as was his love of F1 racing, classic cars and traveling. But, beyond anything, Dad's greatest love was his family. He was incredibly proud of us all, and toasted every accomplishment, no matter how minor!
Dad was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend; we will all miss him terribly. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Effie, brothers and sisters-in-law Ferg (Rena), Jack (Beth), Ken, and his infant brother. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Elisabeth, his daughters Natalie (Dave), Caroline (Craig) and Melanie (Chris), his grandchildren Sarah, Justin, Matthew, Emma, Benji and Parker, family friend Doris, sisters Anne (Dell) and Margaret (Dennis), sister-in-law Eleanor, brother-in-law Albert (Michèle), lifelong friends all over the world, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad delighted in his community involvement. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital. We love and miss you, Dad. We know you've already joined your local MG Club and are enjoying a good scotch. Hope it's convertible weather up there, Dad. Rest in peace.
A Celebration of Dad's life will be held on Saturday, November 4th, from 11am-2pm. at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6
