Rose-Marie Blakey (nee) Poty, Born Nov, 1st 1938 Edmonton Alberta- deceased Sept 29, 2022 St Anne de Bellevue.

Parents Elisabeth & Lawrence and beloved Sister Joyce. Married to Russell Blakey in Edmonton. Sons, Douglas, Michael and Randy. Grandmother to Rachel & Emmett and Steven & Tyler. A beautiful person, who lived life as a Daughter, sister, wife, Mother, Grandma, Aunty, sister and mother in law.

A Loving friend too many people in her life, she was always there for Family, Neighbours and all her friends. Rose, Russ and the boys moved across the country from Alb., Sask., Man., Ont. and finally Que. This is where she lived out her life, she always loved returning to the ‘Rockies’ with her boys and grandchildren, as she held many fond memories of her time growing up out west. She would later go on to tell her grandchildren her stories, we called them ‘ Little Rose stories’ as she would recall all of the mischief her, laddy(dog) and the pet chicken would ensue. Along with those stories came many homemade recipes, baking and gardening tip from her many summers spent on the farm in Saskatchewan.

We are grateful she recalled so many memories and shared them with us throughout the years. However the family would later find out in (2018) that Rose had developed dementia, slowly memories started to fade and it was our turn to tell her our stories. Rose’s dementia declined quickly and eventually it would lead to the family moving her to the St Anne’s Hospital to be provided the care she needed, until the time of her passing. September 29th 2022.

The family would like to honour Rose’s vibrant spirit with a celebration of life taking place sometime in the spring 2023. Venue and date to be decided.
