True to her name, Segunda Angel, daughter of Mariano Angel and Sotera Pudiquet, acquired her angel wings on July 14, 2021 at 11:15am EST. Only four days after her 91st birthday, she joined her late husband and her eldest son, Ricarte Sr. Carino and Ricarte Jr. “Jun” Carino.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses (Rogelio “Rogel” and Yonela “Lining”; Lester “Boy” and Verhen; Yolanda “Lany” and Celso; Novie and Jose; Nora; Edward “Eddie” and Loreta “Loring”; and Virginia “Virgie”, widow of Ricarte Jr.), her fourteen grandchildren and their spouses (Geraldo “Addo” and Sheryl; Jeramie “Amie” and Ronel; Timothy John “Timmy”; Mark David “Macmac”; Moises “Moimoi”; Leonard Bryan and April; Lacel Belle; Joanne May; Jane-Marie; Jean and Joel; Oliver “Olive”; Christian; Christopher “Itup”, and Edward Jr. “EJ”), and her eight great-grandchildren (Howard, Haylee, J-cob, Nathalie, Louie, Andrei, Jiro, and Leola Alezandria “Ola”). She also leaves behind her youngest brother, Benjamin.

Known to many as Nana, Lola or Mare Gundang, she was a devout Catholic, an avid dancer, traveler and gardener. A fierce and loyal friend, she loved to chat on the phone and check up on others. Most importantly, she was a loving maternal figure and an important support system to many. Not only did she care for her own children, but she also extended her love to other families around her - from the Philippines to Canada to the United States. In the Philippines and in Canada, she often cared for children in the neighbourhood. She will be greatly missed for her kind and nurturing spirit.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 31st 2021 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM, and 12:30PM to 2:30PM at Rideau Funeral Home (4275 des Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, H9B2A6, 514-685-3344). The funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 31st 2021 at 2:30PM at Rideau Funeral Home. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, some restrictions apply.
