WILLIAMS, Shirley --- Montreal, Quebec
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Shirley Williams. Shirley passed away December 12, 2022, at 87 years of age in LaSalle Hospital, Quebec. Shirley was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on August 8, 1935 to the late Emmanuel and Hilda Williams. While she was born in Nova Scotia, Montreal became her home, and she lived a vibrant and busy life in the city she loved for more than 50 years. Shirley was always on the go and believed in staying physically fit; sometimes taking multiple buses just to get to her preferred gym in the busy city. Shirley was a bright light to those around her and taught others so much not only by what she said, but by how she lived. She lived her life to the fullest, and always prioritized her family and friends above all else. Shirley showed her love through home-cooked meals, annual Christmas visits to Nova Scotia that would last into the New Year, and daily phone calls with her sister. She will be remembered for her colourful outfits, her layers of jewellery, her quick wit, and most importantly, her caring heart.
Shirley was predeceased by her son, Tame Williams, sisters Genevieve Williams, Lydia (Leo) Ash, and Geraldine (Donald) Pilgrim, and brothers Sherman Williams, Willie Williams, and Murray Brown. She is survived by her sisters Muriel (Artso) Hunt and Joyce (Calvin) Ruck, and her many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Shirley chose to be cremated. Details for memorial services in Montreal and Halifax will be shared once confirmed.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the medical team and staff at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and the Lasalle Hospital long-term care facility.
Memories and condolences may be shared through: https://rideaumemorial.sharingmemories.ca/site/Shirley-Williams.html
