It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Barrett (née Carnegie) on July 30, 2026, at the age of 79.
Shirley has now been reunited with her beloved husband, Don, who predeceased her on April 19, 2025. Their love and partnership for over 57 years was exceptional and there is comfort in knowing they are together again.
She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her daughters, Lori (Darren) and Tracey (Marc), and by her wonderful grandchildren, Adri, Livy, Justin, and Cameron, who were truly the lights of her life. She also leaves behind her cherished brothers and sisters, Jim, Pat, Mary, and John, along with many relatives and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Shirley was an exceptional woman with a generous heart, a kind spirit, and an endless capacity to love. Above all else, her family was everything to her. The love she had for her daughters was deep, constant, and unwavering; she was always there to listen, support, encourage, and care in only the way a mother can. Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she loved them with every part of her heart. Whether through time spent together, a loving word, a proud smile, or the simple joy she found in being surrounded by them, Shirley made each of them feel deeply loved and special.
She had a warmth that made many people feel welcome, a kindness that came naturally, and a quiet strength that carried those around her. Her love, generosity, and presence will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at: Rideau Funeral Home (4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6)
Donations in her memory may be made to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
