In Loving Memory of Stevan “Steve” Ratsch
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted father, Stevan “Steve” Ratsch, who left us peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by loved ones as he passed away in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with cirrhosis of the liver.
Steve was a devoted husband to Debbie Howell, and a proud father to Samantha Ratsch (Cedrick Lortie) and Christopher Ratsch (Marie Thibault). He was the cherished son of Elfriede Dinges (Hans Roth) and Wilfrid Ratsch (Louisette Poirier Picard), a beloved brother to Frederick (Fred) Ratsch and Herbert (Herbie) Ratsch, and a loving uncle to Mariah Ratsch and Edouard Lapointe Ratsch.
Steve will be fondly remembered for his calm, easygoing nature and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. He took immense pride in being a good father, always striving to give his children a better life and endless love. A dedicated machinist, Steve took great pride in his craft and his work ethic. Outside of work, he was known for his love of classic muscle cars, especially his treasured ’74 Plymouth Duster, which he dreamed of restoring in retirement. He loved attending car shows, sharing his passion with his kids, and talking about “the good old days.” Despite the challenges he faced with his health, Steve remained positive, kind, and full of heart. He enjoyed simple pleasures—watching old movies, trying new foods, and reminiscing with friends and family over a cold beer. His sweet and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the incredible medical team at Médecine de Jour at Cité de la Santé Hospital in Laval for their care and compassion, which allowed Steve to enjoy his final years surrounded by those he loved most. We are also deeply grateful for the unwavering support of friends and family during this difficult time. Steve truly felt the unconditional love he so deserve.
The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, on Sunday November 2nd 2025 as of 12:00 pm followed by a celebration of his life at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fondation Cite de la Sante Hospital can be made in his honour at
