Surjit Kaur Chana (Nee Singh)
passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Montreal, at the age of 94. Born on February 2, 1931, in India, she lived a life grounded in faith, humility, and quiet strength.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Preetam Singh, and by her brother, Jaswant Singh, who passed on June 27, 2025.
Surjit Kaur Singh did not have children of her own, but she was a devoted and loving aunt to Harpreet, Ravinder, Charanpreet, and Jagdeep, and a cherished “Grandmother” to Emma Kaur Singh, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A faithful Sikh, she lived her life guided by her beliefs, valuing family, compassion, and seva. She will be remembered for her resilience, her gentle presence, and the deep love she shared with those around her.
Funeral services will be held in accordance with Sikh traditions.
The visitation will take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Maison funéraire Rideau / Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, H9B 2A6.
This will be followed by prayer and the witnessing of the cremation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by prayers at Gurdwara Sahib Greater Montreal DDO, 1155 Hyman, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, H9B 1M5.
