It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Sue O’Neill, who died peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 61, while in palliative care in Hudson, Quebec.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Sue lived a life rooted in compassion, kindness, and quiet generosity. In 1988, she married her best friend and partner, Ken Cave, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Sue was a devoted mother to Allanna, Ken, and Mack — each of whom carries forward her values, her warmth, and her boundless capacity to make others feel seen and loved. Sue was the sister of Patrick and sister-in-law to Christine, and a cherished friend to many.
Those who knew Sue will remember her as someone who made a room feel warmer simply by being in it. She had a gift for making others feel safe and special, often going out of her way to brighten someone’s day. Whether complimenting a stranger or delivering anonymous gifts as a “secret Santa.” Every day, she set a goal to make at least one person’s day better — and she did.
Among her favourite sayings were “Every day, from here to there, funny things are everywhere” and “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.” These words now serve as gentle reminders of the joy, curiosity, and mindfulness she lived by.
A visitation will take place on Saturday at the Rideau Funeral Complex in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with eulogies beginning at 5:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sue’s life. For those that will be joining us to celebrate her life, please come dressed in colours or something that brings you joy and light, knowing she lived every day with both.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre, in gratitude for the compassionate support they offered Sue and our family throughout her illness. To them, we share our love and our sincere thanks.
