<div itemprop="description">It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia (Casia) Machan, who departed peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. <br> <br>Born in Narvacan, Philippines, Sylvia was the beloved daughter of Patrocinio Alafriz and Naaszon Casia. Her life was a vibrant journey marked by love, determination, laughter, and unwavering dedication. Sylvia made everyday count and lived life to the fullest. Her spirit of generosity and compassion touched everyone she encountered. <br> <br>She leaves to mourn her devoted children, Leslie Jr. (Leslie) and Laurie (Nicola), and her cherished grandchildren, Lukas, Olivia, Julian, Alexander, and Gia. <br> <br>Sylvia is also lovingly remembered by her siblings and their families. <br>Sister Myrna (the late Ike), and their children Gail, Nancy (Michael) and grandchildren. Brother Frederik (Amor) their children Yvette (Luciano) Erik, Fred, and grandchildren. Brother Laurence (Cely) their children Michael (Charlotte) Jay (Jennifer) and grandchildren. Brother Jesus (Tessie) their children Karen, Cherry Mae (Yan) and grandchildren. Brother Adam (Corazon) their children Jennnie (Melissa), Jean, and grandchildren. The late Brother Manuel (Lorie) their children Patrick (Janine) Mark (Madel) Frances, and grandchildren. Sisters Melba and Mila Casia <br> <br>She is also mourned by her loving brother-in-law Tomas Jr. (Ann and Andrea), Darina (Victoria (Derek) and grandchildren), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. <br> <br>Sylvia will be cherished for her immense heart, strength of character, and boundless generosity. Her immeasurable passion for life and deep commitment to those she loved to continue to inspire all who knew her. Her beautiful soul has left a lasting legacy that will live on in our hearts and memories. <br> <br>The family extends its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Pepe, the CLSC & NOVA nurses, dedicated caregivers, and staff at the Jewish General Hospital and the Teresa Dellar Palliative Residence for their exceptional care and compassion. <br> <br>Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boul. Des Sources, D.D.O., from 2:00–5:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edmund’s Church, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia’s memory may be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Residence. <br> <br>May she rest in peace. <br> <br></div>
