It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Sylvia Janiszewski (nee Rubin) at the age of 86 years. A lifelong Montrealer, Sylvia grew up in NDG with her five siblings, attended Westhill High School before starting her career. Sylvia was an avid sports enthusiast, joining the Montreal Alouettes cheerleading club and being named Miss Alouette in 1957. While raising her family in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, she was a co-founder of the Dollard Majorette Corps and was active in the local community. Sylvia enjoyed skiing, tennis & golf, trips and reunions with her friends, and hosting the annual family Bocce tournament in her backyard.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward; her four sons Mark (Wanda), John (Heather), David (Christine) and Eddie-Joe (Kerri) and her seven grandchildren Kristen, Caroline, Kimberly, Jane, Paul, Olivia and Matthew; her two siblings Ron Rubin and Diane Feather; as well as all the friends she so cherished through her life.
A loyal and loving matriarch to our family, she provided an anchor for us all to prosper in her warmth and devotion. We will miss her humor and love.
