We are mourning the loss of our mother and grandmother, Valentina “Vally” Golab
(nee Freide), who passed away on February 26th, 2021, at the age of 94. Mother to
Ursula (Alan) and Peter, grandmother to Megan, Jessica, Christina “Tina”, and Kimberley.

We were looking forward to a Covid-free life where we could once again enjoy each other’s company but we suddenly lost Valentina before this was possible. She lived a long life surrounded by family and filled with love until her rapid decline following a recent hospital stay.

Vally was born in Baranowicze, Poland (now Belarus) on October 2nd, 1926. She often spoke dearly of her family, especially her two loving parents and three brothers.

In 1950 she married and the following year she and her husband, Frank Golab, immigrated to Canada. During her trans-Atlantic voyage by boat she met and befriended other couples who were to become her life-long support in her new country. Settling in Montreal, she created a home filled with devotion and love. Her garden and pear tree were reminders of her dedication and care and will not be forgotten.

A gravedise service will take place on July 30, 2021 at 11am at Rideau Memorial Gardens.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation a maximum of guests can be present at the burial. Please reserve your place by contacting the family to add your name on the guest list.

Your life was a blessing
Your memory a treasure
You are loved beyond words
And missed beyond measure
