<div itemprop="description">It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wai Quen Lee (née Loy). Surrounded by her family, Wai Quen passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 88.<br>She was the devoted wife of Chew Kun Lee for 64 years, and a beloved mother to Nelson (Susan) and Virginia (Shek). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Vanessa, Mason, Jeremy, Lauren, and Alexander; nieces and nephews: Karliene, Dat Fung, Kevin, Yee Ming (Sharon), Wai Ming (Ju Pi), Jin Ming (Lisa), and the extended family.<br>Wai Quen was born on November 4, 1937, in Taishan, Guangdong, and often recounted fond memories of her carefree days growing up in her house on Hennessy Road in Hong Kong. Her mother was a teacher, and her father practiced traditional Chinese medicine as a herbalist. Predeceased by her older brother and 2 elder sisters, she was the fourth of five children in her family. <br>Married in 1961, she immigrated to Canada, embarking on a new life with her husband. Together, they built a small family business rooted in dedication, hard work, and resilience. Wai Quen worked alongside her husband for over six decades—while raising children and managing their household. A breast cancer survivor, she never let adversity deter her. She worked relentlessly, selflessly, and was fiercely protective to provide a better future for her family.<br>In the final six years of her life, Wai Quen faced a diagnosis of dementia, which she met with the same grace and quiet determination that defined her character. She found joy in music, gardening, and treasured time with family and friends. Her smile was warm and infectious, lighting up the hearts of those around her. <br>The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the fifth-floor team at the Montreal Chinese Hospital for the kindness, care, and dignity they gave her in her final days. Visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Rideau Funeral Home, 4239 Sources Blvd, DDO, QC, H9B 2A6 . Interment will follow at Mount Royal Cemetery.<br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Chinese Hospital.<br></div>
