<div itemprop="description">At the Lakeshore General Hospital on May 18, 2020 as a result of complications due to the COVID -19 virus in his 90th year<br><br> A long-time resident of Pierrefonds, Alan was born to Sydney and Winifred (Theriault) Cornell at Windsor, ON, on Feb 20, 1930. He was predeceased by sisters Joyce Pollock and Shirley McGrath<br>Alan now rejoins his beloved wife, June (Rollins) to whom he was married for 56 years, and who passed all too soon in 2014. <br><br>Alan is survived by his children Alan(Gerry) of Franklin, MA, Stephen(Maryann ) of Brimfield, MA, and Cathy(Alan Macgregor ), of Columbus, GA along with his Grandchildren, Michael and his wife Kelly, Sean; Tyler and Justin; Kendra Macgregor, and Kyle Macgregor and his fiancée Michelle Borsellino, as well as three great-grandchildren<br><br>He is also survived by his sister in law Joyce (Rollins) Brabant, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends, including Lucy Gosselin, a life-long friend to Mum and Dad.<br><br>Alan enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance sector beginning with the Commercial Union and he retired as President and Chairman of Knox, Vickers, Maclean. He enjoyed mentoring others and taught for the Insurance Institute of Canada and executive education at McGill University.<br><br>Alan and June enjoyed spending time with family, hosting celebrations with great food, laughter and singing, fine tuning their home and gardens, traveling to Vermont with Dick and June Rollins. Dad was an amateur painter and loved to work Crossword puzzles, usually in ink, with several on the go at once. <br><br>Our family would like to thank everyone at the Maxwell Residence for making Dad’s final years safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.<br><br>We also thank the Doctors and the staff of 3 West at the Lakeshore General hospital for their professionalism, empathy and courage during the difficult times.<br><br>Inconsideration of the current health care concerns, a celebration of Alan’s life will be held at an appropriate time.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, please be kind to one another, treat each other with respect, laugh a little and listen to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”<br></div>
