Aged 86, Demetre passed away peacefully after a difficult 3 yearlong battle with ALS on the evening of Friday, February 28th, 2025.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Konstantina Rombotis. He will be fondly remembered by his sons Stergios and Sam (Farida), daughter Anthi (Bill), and his grandchildren Frankie, Ilianna, and Olivia. He also leaves behind his nephews, nieces, and godchildren as well as many other family and friends in Greece and North America.
Arriving from Greece in 1964, where he became adept at making and altering clothing, Demetre became known to his Montreal clients as Jim the Tailor.
Over the years he succeeded in anything that interested him, from leisure hunting and fishing to avid gardening. He chased the sun with his wife, friends, and family to Cuba, what he considered his home away from home. The outdoors brought him great pleasure, as did dancing, a good meal, good company, and probably most of all, a visit from his grandchildren.
A cancer survivor, Demetre was an honest, jovial man, who led a simple yet rich life. He loved his family and friends dearly. His charismatic smile and gentle heart touched all those around him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
