It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and friend Devinder Garg. Following a brief illness, he left us on March 25th, 2026.
He was born on October 18th, 1944 in Ambala, India to Champat Rai Garg and Shanti Devi. He lived a life marked by discipline, kindness and profound inner strength. He had a brisk exterior but was soft on the inside and was deeply loved by all who knew him.
He married Sudesh on May 11th, 1973 and over the next 52 years, she became the love of his life and lifelong partner. They were rarely seen without each other. He was also a proud father to Angela, Sunil and Naveen, and a cherished friend to many. He is survived by his spouse Sudesh, his children Angela (Anurag), Sunil (Monica), and Naveen (Namrta) and grandchildren Samay, Shanaya, Navya, Naira, Naman, Kiara and Neil.
After coming to Canada in 1964, he graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Engineering and then completed a Masters of Engineering at McGill University. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and Director of Quality Control at Silonex Inc where he helped design and develop photo cells and semi conductors. He was a brilliant man who known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, working with his hands and spending time with his family.
He was a pillar of the community and strongly embedded in his faith and culture. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and wisdom, and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the love he gave and the memories he created.
A funeral service will be held on March 31st at Rideau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute (use the Make a Donation link below).
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
