It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to our beloved Mum, Evelyn. After a brief illness, Eve died on October 5th, 2021, at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

Evelyn was born in Lac Mégantic, QC, to George and Helen Stearns. Eve was predeceased by her parents, her dear sister Marian, her brother David, and the love of her life Paul. She leaves behind her devoted children: Kathleen, Peter (Elaine), Louise (Doug), and John (Susan). Grandma will be missed by all of her adoring grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle), Ian (Amelia), Jillian (Matt Marinucci), and James Hundt; Kevin (Alisa), Eric (Adrienne), Colleen (James Baxter), and Nicole (Toby) Murphy; Alec, Craig and Erin Dawdy; and Sarah, Joseph, and Michael Murphy. As Gigi, she was much loved by her ten great-grandchildren: Evan, Noah, Daniel, Paul, Ida, Lily, Clara, Joseph, Genevieve, and soon to arrive, Evelyn. She will be fondly remembered by the many friends that filled her life, both new and old, especially her good friend Harry.
Eve was was a proud graduate of the Sacred Heart School, Bishop's University, and the MGH 1956 Nursing Program. Forever caring for others, Mum found her calling as a nurse and a mother. Evelyn worked at the MGH, NOVA, and in private practice.

An active, bright woman, Eve loved bridge, cribbage, tennis, and her garden, but most of all, she loved her family. A consummate hostess, Mum enjoyed a house full of family and friends, and a big roast on the table. Mum and Dad loved their fifty years at 152 Hampshire and found time to travel the world in their retirement, including multiple trips to visit Mum's family in Australia. Yet, a day on Goose Rocks Beach in Maine with family was her most favourite place to be.

Thank you to all the caring people that have come into Mum's world in the past few months, especially those at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Centre, NOVA/CLSC, and Golden Home Care.

The Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St.Edmund's of Canterbury in Beaconsfield on Friday, October 8th, 2021. The Visitation will begin at 1:45pm. The Funeral Mass will follow at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Island Cancer Wellness Centre at wicwc.com.

The funeral mass will be live streamed as of 2:50 pm please follow this link: https://fweb.tv/63266
