Fouad (Fofo, Fred) was a person who deeply touched many lives.
He was a devoted husband to Violette for 59 years, a guiding light to his daughters Christine and Marianne, a welcoming father-in-law to Tim and Victor, and the proudest grandfather (Géddo) to Nicholas, Karissa, Jonathan, Joshua, and Annemarie.
Fouad was born in Cairo in 1927 as the youngest of seven children. He had a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer and served as a first lieutenant in the Royal Egyptian Air Force. Alongside his brother Jean, he founded Salama Engineering. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Violette, and soon after, they welcomed two daughters. In 1967, they made the courageous decision to move to Canada, seeking a life of opportunity and freedom in Montreal. Fouad continued his engineering career there, ultimately serving as Director of Engineering at Fleishmann's.
Fouad warmly welcomed many families and friends as they immigrated to Canada. He and Violette always opened their home to anyone in need of support.
Throughout his life, he traveled the world with Violette, his children, and grandchildren. He had a deep love for nature, a passion for new technology, enjoyed building decks, loved swimming, and always found joy in celebrating the small moments in life. Above all, Fouad cherished watching his grandchildren thrive. He was always supportive, kind, and patient, staying deeply interested in their lives until the very end. Every day, he would say, "Tell me what’s going on with everyone!"
He recently told one of his caregivers: ‟Give lots of love and live life to its fullest!” He lived by these words, and we will strive to do the same.
The mass celebrating Fouad’s life will take place on Saturday, September 7th, at 10:00 a.m., at Saint Luke Parish in DDO.
Donations to the Teresa Dellar Palliative care center would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Please use the link below to donate.
