<div itemprop="description">SCHAAP, Herman passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 75 on Tuesday, November 12th 2019. Pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Arda Schaap (nee Romeyn). Loving father of 5 children and cherished Opa to 12 grandchildren: son Robert and children Torri, Brandon (Karley), Jaden, Wynter, Logan; daughter Marie (Stephen Dartt) and her son Justin (Alexandra); son Martin (Alicia De Jonge) and children Skyler, Bradley, Anna, Tiffany; daughter Jessica and her children Emma, Andrew; daughter Rachel (Adam Pincombe) and children Hunter, Evan. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Gerda Klein and Francina Bastian and his family and friends in Canada and the Netherlands. <br> <br>Herman was a devoted member of Faith Community Bible Church. He was a lifelong dedicated employee of Air Canada. He was known for helping those around him. He was very creative and knowledgeable when it came to fixing issues with cars, furniture, interior renovations, problems transporting items to people’s place as well as fixing airplanes. His sense of humor was unlike any other. He had a presence yet he was quite reserved. His impact on people will forever be remembered and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him and called him friend. <br> <br>He was taken so fast by an aggressive cancer. Our deepest gratitude to Dr. Ferri and the nurses on the 11th floor at the Montreal General Hospital; doctors and nursing staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital; Dr. Romano and Dr. Wong and the gifted nurses and staff at the West Island Palliative Care. <br> <br>Visitation will be Tuesday, November 19th from 18:00-21:00. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 at 18:00. A light reception will follow starting at 19:00. All will take place at Rideau Memorial Gardens, 4239 Sources Blvd, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2A6.
